The challenge
Sustainability isn’t always about reinventing the wheel. Sometimes it’s about reshaping the box.
Our client asked us to re-engineer a value-added gift pack containing a bottle and premium glassware. The brief was simple: reduce materials, remove plastic and lower cost. But the challenge lay in achieving this all without compromising the premium experience that consumers expect.

Our Approach
Intelligent design without compromise
Our structural packaging experts explored how to optimise space, materials, and logistics without losing impact.
The breakthrough came from rethinking the internal layout - stacking components vertically instead of horizontally. This smart adjustment reduced the overall width of the pack, for a slimmer, plastic-free design that not only used fewer materials, but also improved on-shelf commercial efficiency.
By redesigning the pack to be fully recyclable and plastic-free, we created a solution that was both premium and environmentally responsible.
The Result
Reduced footprint and increased efficiency
Our sustainable packaging solution that delivered clear benefits across the board:
- Reduced footprint: fewer materials used and more efficient shipping
- Plastic eliminated: 100% recyclable design
- Improved shelf efficiency: smaller pack, same premium impact
- Lower costs: around 10% unit cost reduction
And the environmental savings speak for themselves:
🌱 ~211,500 litres of water saved
🌱 ~27,600 kg of carbon avoided
This project is a powerful example of how thoughtful structural changes can unlock meaningful impact. Every design decision was guided by a simple principle: sustainability through intelligent engineering, not compromise, to continue to delight shoppers.
